About DebWest
Sewing has been my hobby for 30 years. A few years ago, I rediscovered Fashion Dolls and have fallen in love with collecting and sewing for them.
I have a wealth of vintage and modern fabrics in my personal collection and I would love to create something for your doll. I love fine fabrics and my collection reflects that love. It encompasses lightweight superfine wools, wool and silk blends, rayon, silk, silk taffeta, linen, and fine cottons. I do use faux furs and a few synthetics, but I prefer to work with natural fibers. Of course, my second hobby is collecting and shopping for fabric!
I work with a mixture of patterns and slopers which I have designed in addition to a few commercial and modified commercial patterns. Everyday fashions are my inspriations for the doll world. All outfits are fully lined in natural china silk unless otherwise stated. Metal snap or hook and thread catches are used for closures.
I use the following dolls for modeling and design fitting: Tyler Wentworth and Antoinette by Tonner Doll Company. Custom House Petite AI, Dollstown 5 and 7 year old and Elf, Kish 14 and 12 inch Chrysalis Collection. Alchemic Lab Unoa.
I have been thrilled and honored to have designs selected to be included in magazines such as Fashion Doll Quarterly, Haute Doll, and High Maintenance. I have won Blue Ribbons in competition at Robert Tonner’s 2004 Chicago Convention and Placed in the 2007 Convention.
At this time, I do not accept private commissions.
I am not affiliated with any Doll Company and all dolls used are in my personal collection.
